With more videographer jobs popping up everywhere, companies are starting to realize how important video marketing is – making now the perfect time to apply for videographer positions!

If videography is something you’re passionate about and would love to do as a career, then these tips should help you get started in finding your dream job.

For me, working as a full-time Videographer in the car dealership industry has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

I’m paid well with generous benefits, and everyday I have the opportunity to exercise my creativity and hone my skills.

Plus, since it’s my own department, I get to think for myself and take ownership of the projects I work on.

Never in my wildest dreams did I envision myself working as an employee for another company.

Finding the job.
At the time I was looking for more videographer work.

Set up notifications on a few job sites for video work whenever any video work popped up.

After growing accustomed to my freelance lifestyle, I was intrigued by a job posting for a full-time videographer.

Taking initiative is crucial; it’s not enough

So how did I land the job?

Well it took a lot of preparation and hard work.

I crafted an amazing resume that outlined my skills, experience, and cover letter of why I was the person for the job.

I provided a link to my video portfolio of some of my best work so they could see what kind of videos I create.

I made sure to mention that I was comfortable with video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Additionally, I had a few references who could vouch for me and my skill set as a videographer.

What also helped was the fact that I had gotten a drone license.

Not only does this show that you are a pro and can be insured for your work, but it also means you can take DRONE SHOTS, which is something employers love to see!

So if you’re serious about becoming a Videographer, make sure to start working towards getting your drone license.

It’ll help give you an edge and impress potential employers.

Make sure to also be persistent. Don’t just apply online and wait for someone to call you.

Take the initiative and contact them directly, set up an interview if possible and follow up with any emails or messages sent by the employer.

No employer is going to be upset unless you’re being rude- so don’t be afraid to show some hustle and determination!

With all that set, I got the interview.

Never underestimate the importance of preparation.

Research common videographer interview questions, making sure you can talk confidently about your experience is essential to standing out from the other applicants.

Visualize yourself performing well in the interview and receiving a job offer.

This strategy really works!

Mentally rehearse being confident while communicating during the interview to increase your chances of success.

Once you’re in the interview, remember to stay positive and showcase your creativity.

Videographers need to think outside the box and show that they can come up with new ideas.

I filmed and edited up a video real fast on my phone with some music, titles and effects.

Even though the interviewer was amazed by the video- that wasn’t what sealed the deal.

In the end, it was my enthusiasm for Videography as well as emphasizing why I was a great fit for the position that grabbed their attention.

What you can learn from this is to be prepared when going into an interview but also have some originality or something special to show off that other Videographers don’t have.

That way your work will stand out and really grab their attention!

Finally, during the interview process, I showed passion and enthusiasm which allowed me to stand out from the other applicants.

Be persistent during the interview process (don’t be afraid to leave follow-up messages)

Just it’s not enough to just apply online and wait for a response; sometimes you have to take initiative and reach out with confidence in order to land your dream job!

After several weeks of dedication and effort, I was offered the videographer position.

Although the work can be difficult and there are some downsides, the advantages by far outweigh any negative aspects.

Furthermore, it has multiplied my abilities tenfold.

With all that said, it takes commitment and determination to get a job as Videographer

But it’s definitely worth it in the end.

With enough practice and preparation, you could soon be on your way to success!

Who knows – maybe one day I’ll hire YOU for my next project! 😉
